Our Story...

How it all started...

Tabernacle has been serving the community of Union for over 60 years. We have survived lightning strikes, storms, and the challenges of economic downturns to maintain a visible and vocal witness to Jesus.

According to the Dec. 10, 1912, issue of Progress newspaper, the first formal service of Tabernacle Baptist Church was held in "Baptist Tabernacle" in South Union. Since then, Tabernacle has sought to be a light to the community by living out the Gospel to our neighbors.

Expanding the vision...

Although Union has changed since 1912, we are still a people who loves family, friendship, and food! Our vision at Tabernacle is to mature in our discipleship as believers and to go into the world for Jesus.

Our mission is that we will GROW IN CHRIST so that we can GO WITH CHRIST, making disciples of all nations, by bringing them to Jesus.

Where we are headed...

Tabernacle desires to grow our witness into the community.

We hope to see believers of all ages find a safe home to explore the message of Jesus. We hope to see senior saints grasp their opportunity to teach and reach the nations who are right on our doorstep. We hope to see people come to Jesus for the very first time as well as to be a home for longtime faithful followers of Jesus.

We hope to grow into a fellowship that loves the Lord, loves the lost, and be a bridge between the two.

It's our fervent hope that each person who comes to Tabernacle will Grow in Christ so that they can heed the call to Go with Christ.

And we hope that you will be a part of our ministry, too!
